“A Fable for Tomorrow” by Rachel Carson

One of my favorite essays in the book is “A Fable for Tomorrow” by Rachel Carson because the author is right humans are destroying the world by our lack of care. At the beginning the author is writing about how wonderful and beautiful the place is because everything is green, clean, and everywhere you go you see wildflowers and life. The birds were singing, and in the farms pigs and chickens were reproducing, and thousands were born each month ; therefore, everything was going great until an evil spell, which are the humans, came along and destroy everything that was peaceful and beautiful. When the place started to get full of people then slowly we started polluting in which cause many tress, and flowers to die. Also, we started to build houses, so we cut down many tress and nature. The birds were no longer singing and they were nowhere to be found. In the farms the chickens were there but they were no baby chickens hatches only the ones that remind. The roads that were once so pretty full of life are now brown and dead, so everything looks ugly and depressing. The author is making the essay dramatic because; even though, all that has really happened it hasn’t happened all in one place but a bit every here and there, but the author is just trying to prove a point and make us realized what we are slowly doing.

I like this essay because the author is trying to open our eyes and make each one of us understand that it is important to take care of our environment and try to protect the wildlife as much as possible instead of destroying it to make more houses and population. Having trees in our surrounding is healthier for our own life because believe it or not pollution can cause a lot of health damage. I think this essay is trying to make us understand that we got to be careful and responsible for our own actions such as pick up after our mess; for example, when we go to the park and eat something pick up the mess and don’t let the papers and garbage there because first of all we are making the place look ugly and second of all it is causing pollution. We all go to a place and sometimes complain, yet we don’t clean after ourselves, so how can we expect the place to be clean. We think that everything will be fine and nothing is going to happen to the world and maybe nothing will happen to us, but for our kids or their kids the world will only get worse and I bet something will happen then. This essay is a warning for all of us that something is changing and we should all be very careful; therefore, we should take care of about environment.
