“Marrying Absurd” by Joan Didion

I agree with Joan Didion in “Marrying Absurd” weddings in Las Vegas is nothing more than a joke. For me, Marriage is very essential part of a person life and shouldn’t be a matter of seconds. Las Vegas in a place where everyone goes to party, to get drunk, and to have a good time; sometimes they get so drunk they got no idea what they are doing and get married with a girl they had just finish meeting. Also, under age teenagers go there to runaway from their parents and marry thier boyfriend who they might not even like for the fact that in Las Vegas they don’t require any real papers only to swear that you are over age. In addition, weddings in Las Vegas are not unique they married a bunch of people one after the other in a matter of seconds like mention in the essay, “ One bride lent her veil to six others, “I got it down from five to three minutes,”. Las Vegas wedding are cheap, not special, and no there no real love. I would never like to get marry in a place like Las Vegas where you don’t even plan a wedding just go and in seconds make a wedding out of nothing. When I get married, is going to be planned, organized, and full of love with my family and love ones not with random people I have never seen before; therefore, my opinion in this essay is the same as the author. A wedding in the Las Vegas is the worst mistake you can ever make, and if you don’t have money to waste on a big or at least decent wedding than wait and save don’t just speed the process and make a mistake. A wedding suppose to be remembered not a lets get over it process.
